Supa83 is that artist. Already with a film score for Atelier Theatre under his belt, he’s produced the majority of Shing Shing Regime’s Invincible Swordplay album and played a major role in defining Canadian Winter’s sound on the ‘Just Wait Till February LP’. Hamilton’s ultra eclectic but thoroughly impressive electronic scene is real. Hamilton allows artists ample opportunity to take in influences from a buffet of international sounds that filter through Southern Ontario. Supa83 recently put on his first live performance and crushed it, letting loose an orchestra of electronic funk I’ve yet to hear from anyone.

A new act is magic, a powerful synthesis of musical histories. Weathered by the cultural, social and geographical landscapes of Southern Ontario, Canadian Winter is a new group out of Hamilton’s fertile indie scene. They are Kobi Annobil (MC), DJ Johnny Fever aka J Fevrier XIV, Kojo Chintoh & Scotty P.

Raw, experimental, yet equally engaging, Winter’s sound tip-toes the genre sonically [electro panic x synth soul] while offering it’s unique weltanschauung in a confident, authentic hip-hop narrative. The group combines 3 seasoned hip-hop DJs and a child of rugged 1993 boom bap, the well travelled Kobi. Their first EP, a no non-sense showcase of versatile story-telling and polished-avant-garde production value, also gives us a glimpse of talented associated producers スーパ83 aka Supa K!d & Cheese Shop Paddy both accomplished pros who more than hold their own.
