BRRRR: Canadian Winter
Friday, June 25th, 2010A new act is magic, a powerful synthesis of musical histories. Weathered by the cultural, social and geographical landscapes of Southern Ontario, Canadian Winter is a new group out of Hamilton’s fertile indie scene. They are Kobi Annobil (MC), DJ Johnny Fever aka J Fevrier XIV, Kojo Chintoh & Scotty P.
Raw, experimental, yet equally engaging, Winter’s sound tip-toes the genre sonically [electro panic x synth soul] while offering it’s unique weltanschauung in a confident, authentic hip-hop narrative. The group combines 3 seasoned hip-hop DJs and a child of rugged 1993 boom bap, the well travelled Kobi. Their first EP, a no non-sense showcase of versatile story-telling and polished-avant-garde production value, also gives us a glimpse of talented associated producers スーパ83 aka Supa K!d & Cheese Shop Paddy both accomplished pros who more than hold their own. The ‘The Bundle Up’ EP CD pack is now available in limited quantities.
