BRRRR: Canadian Winter
A new act is magic, a powerful synthesis of musical histories. Weathered by the cultural, social and geographical landscapes of Southern Ontario, Canadian Winter is a new group out of Hamilton’s fertile indie scene. They are Kobi Annobil (MC), DJ Johnny Fever aka J Fevrier XIV, Kojo Chintoh & Scotty P.
Raw, experimental, yet equally engaging, Winter’s sound tip-toes the genre sonically [electro panic x synth soul] while offering it’s unique weltanschauung in a confident, authentic hip-hop narrative. The group combines 3 seasoned hip-hop DJs and a child of rugged 1993 boom bap, the well travelled Kobi. Their first EP, a no non-sense showcase of versatile story-telling and polished-avant-garde production value, also gives us a glimpse of talented associated producers スーパ83 aka Supa K!d & Cheese Shop Paddy both accomplished pros who more than hold their own. The ‘The Bundle Up’ EP CD pack is now available in limited quantities.
From 1967 to 1972, El-Baz participated in the Apollo Program as Supervisor of Lunar Science Planning at Bellcomm Inc., a division of AT&T that conducted systems analysis for NASA. During these six years, he was secretary of the Landing Site Selection Committee for the Apollo lunar landing missions, Principal Investigator of Visual Observations and Photography, and chairman of the Astronaut Training Group. His outstanding teaching abilities were confirmed by the Apollo astronauts. While orbiting the Moon for the first time during Apollo 15, Command Module Pilot Alfred Worden said, “After the King’s [Farouk's nickname] training, I feel like I’ve been here before.”
